Philly Indian Dentist Pranathi Reddy Fined 150,000 for Opioid-Mishandling
December 31, 2019 - Bucks County, PA Indian Dentist Dr. Pranathi V. Reddy was ordered today to pay a penalty of 150,000 to resolve allegations of Opioid-Mishandling and diversion for personal use.
Besides the penalty of of $150,000, Dr. Pranathi Reddy was:
- Ordered to stop prescribing Schedule II opioids for four years
- Barred from purchasing, prescribing, or dispensing any Schedule II controlled substances for at least the next four years
- Subjected to a number of monitoring requirements, including reporting her controlled substance purchasing, dispensing, and prescribing to the Drug Enforcement Administration
....on October 14, 2018, Reddy diverted a package of controlled substances for her personal use, which resulted in an overdose and her transport to the hospital.The Opioid-mishandling investigation against Philly Indian Dentist Dr Pranathi Reddy was conducted by PA Bureau of Enforcement and Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration’s Philadelphia Field Division and the settlement was handled by U.S. Attorney’s Office, Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
....from June 2017 through November 2018, she failed to maintain various records of the controlled substances she used in her professional practice as a dentist.
....Reddy failed to maintain an initial inventory of her controlled substances, document the transfer of controlled substances on the required forms, and failed to maintain the controlled substances at her registered locations.
The claims resolved by the settlement against Dr. Pranathi Reddy are allegations only and there has been no determination of liability.
